CHALLENGE

Hearing Loss is the third most common health disorder facing Americans today, outranked only by heart disease and arthritis. Current statistics indicate that nearly 35 million people in the U.S. suffer from some type of hearing loss.

According to a study by The Better Hearing Institute:

  • 3 in 10 people over age 60 have hearing loss
  • 1 in 6 baby boomers have a hearing problem

Hearing loss has a negative impact on cognitive skills, physical health and often causes social isolation. The quality of life for those who suffer hearing loss has been shown to be dramatically lower than their peers with normal hearing.

Research by the National Council on the Aging demonstrated that hearing aids improved the quality of life for people with mild to severe hearing impairment.Hearing loss treatment was shown to improve:

  • Earning power
  • Communication in relationships
  • Intimacy and warmth in family relationships
  • Emotional stability
  • Sense of control over life events
  • Perception of mental functioning
